Praise for "A Matter of Life & Beth":

  • "Heartfelt, dynamic and well-written..."
  • "As a 48-year-old woman, I feel very seen!"
  • "Excellent writing, it's all so hilarious!"

Beth McKinstry, suburban Glasgow housewife, is 48 and desperate...

With her husband off in the arms of his (much) younger mistress, and the bills starting to pile up, Beth stumbles upon an unexpected way to make some quick and not-so-easy money.

The only catch is that it means baring all – literally – in front of a room full of complete strangers!

Sometimes, though, there's an art to learning to love yourself again, and with the support of her ‘partner in wine’ bestie Connie, son Jason, and the world’s most obese and obnoxious cat, Beth is about to learn a very important lesson of her own...

That you’re never too old to deserve a second chance at life, laughter and love.

Although this is well outside my usual reading genres, it turned out to be a thoroughly entertaining listen. Very well written, with a wonderful diverse cast of characters, it had me chuckling along for most of the story. Of course, Stan the cat, complete with plenty of attitude, was one of the book's biggest stars and provided some of the most memorable moments. LOL!
C.G. Frances delivers a great narration, balancing a fast-paced story with plenty of emotion and bringing the characters vividly to life.
A highly recommended listen and one I'm very glad I gave a chance.
Thanks to the author for a review copy of the book and I leave this honest review voluntarily.
