Vostak is determined that he will not have a mate. He tries to stay away from Penelope despite being drawn to her and is not happy when he is sent on a mission with her. Penelope writes steamy short stories about Kadrixan warriors and their mates and thinks that Vostak is hot despite his obvious avoidance tactics. When their mission doesn't go according to plan Vostak will do whatever it takes to protect Penelope. I love this series and the narration. Penelope is funny and caring and you can feel Vostak desperately trying to avoid admitting his feelings for Penelope. There is intrigue, suspense and some steamy action. I loved listening to this book and I look forward to the next in the series.
