You don't have to be a black woman to benefit from this book. I listened initially to this book as I wante to open my eyes to try and understand a different perspective - so different from my own experiences. The definition of racial trauma - being a personal, psychological wound is one that I hadn't thought about enough to truly understand. In the end I have increased my knowledge and empathy and at the same time identified the benefits of self talk and self love for which I am grateful.

I found this audiobook deeply supportive and honest. It speaks directly to the unique challenges Black women face, including racial stress, relationship struggles, and childhood wounds, and it does so with compassion and respect. I felt seen and understood in a way that many self-help books do not provide.

I didn’t realize how harsh my inner voice had become until I started reading this. The book gently challenged that toxic self-talk without shaming me for it. Treating myself like someone I love sounded simple, but practicing it changed how I show up for myself every day.
