A dark twisting Sci-Fi thriller, Terminus is the first instalment of The Book of Xaal series which is complementary to events depicted in the Summer Haven trilogy. A reporter chasing a secret organisation finds a planetary scale alien artefact in Earth's core. Faced with the afterlife being infected by soul eating aliens, would Kevin be prepared to risk the integrity of Earth's tectonic plates to engage them in battle? What is the Terminus, and what role does it play in the Astral Architects great plan?

Kevin is an irreverent freelance investigative journalist and hacker, he follows the dark trail of a secret organisation rumoured to be attempting to instigate genocide. His paranoia builds as he tracks down foot soldiers involved in the iniquitous plot; he begins to suspect someone has been meddling with his mind, his memories and experiences exhibit significant incongruences. As he closes on the cult, it dawns on him he has discovered something quite different from his expectations, which makes him challenge his most deep-seated values and beliefs.

Fundamental and primal, could this discovery explain part of the cosmic conundrum of life and death? Could his findings begin to explain the origins of our world and the afterlife beyond? The difficulty for him is his journalistic abilities and his native mistrust of figures of leadership drive him to suspect something is not all it seems to be. Is the Terminus a wonder of nature, a part of the great Astral Architect’s plan or something much more sinister?

*The strength of Edge’s novel is its cast. Kevin/Torch is a man of mystery whose complicated history is skillfully doled out by the author. Griff and Hamster, his steady and colorful companions, are also well developed. Here’s hoping that all the setup Edge has crammed into this first volume will pay dividends in future entries.
