This book is a very intimate look at the journey of a medical doctor who made the transition from a traditional medical practitioner to a facilitator of Ayahuasca ceremonies in the Peruvian Mestizo tradition. It describes how he became interested and initiated into this work and the many challenging experiences he had along the way both before and after beginning to lead ceremonies. He goes into the actual elements of the ceremony and includes many stories written by participants themselves. An abiding thread woven throughout the book is the question of who or what is the voice one often hears while under the power of Ayahuasca and who is the real healer.
