A 17-year-old alleged car thief was apprehended by police and a police dog in the Ikea car park at Victoria Gardens in Richmond, following a dangerous hour-long chase through Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The pursuit began in Doncaster when police spotted a stolen BMW, which was later dumped in Balwyn North for a stolen Kia that was tracked through Canterbury, Hawthorn, and Kew before ending at the shopping centre. A 15-year-old was also arrested at the scene without resistance, while the 17-year-old was taken to hospital under police guard for treatment of lower body injuries sustained during the arrest.
