After surviving a messy divorce, Dr. Connor Wallen prefers being married to his job. Helping animals is the perfect distraction from his crazy life as a single dad, but he finds it difficult to concentrate when an attractive woman fresh from veterinary school joins his practice. Getting involved with someone who works for him would only lead to disaster.

He tries to ignore her but their chemistry is undeniable.

Dr. Elizabeth Bishop can’t stand her boss or how he treats her, but there aren’t many job options in small-town Texas. No matter what she does, it’s never good enough for him, but she keeps trying to impress him anyway. Studying and working so much over the years has destroyed her dating life, so she stopped trying.

She’ll never admit she’s attracted to him, and denies it every chance she gets.

Avoiding him is impossible, but Elle keeps her distance. Conner may be her boss, but she’s tired of playing his games. After an all-nighter turns into more, she’s ready to prove who’s in control.

Although he pushes her away, she’s determined to pull him closer - showing him exactly what they’ve both been missing.

**Bossing the Cowboy is a complete stand-alone, and can be listened to without listening to any of the other books or spin-off series, but if you prefer to listen in order, start with Hitching the Cowboy, as the characters and families do interconnect.**

Enjoyed it but also a bit too slow for me. I'm not really a fan of going back in time when we already had a preview of them in previous books. While I understand we needed some history and context I usually end up bored because I know what is going to happen and just want new stuff. Once we got to new material their relationship exploded fast and wrapped up too nicely. So too much enemies, not enough lovers.

Tropes: Loved single dad stories. Not a fan of age-gap. Was okay with the work relationship (only because they didn't get together while she was an intern).

The narration was excellent!

After the last book and the little teasers we got into Elle and Connor's chemistry and the introduction of his daughter Olivia, I was so ready to start this book. I listened to Bossing the Cowboy in Audiobook format and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially Lia Langola narrating for Elle I thought she did an amazing job portraying her character.

Elle is a typical Bishop woman, strong willed, determined, driven and has a huge heart. I found Elle to be a really likable character. Connor comes across as cold and dismissive of Elle but as you get to know his character you understand it's because he is fighting his immense attraction to this girl who is younger than him and now his employee.

I really liked how the story played out and that it spanned over a couple of years as Elle moved through her veterinary training. They had bags of slow burn, will they wont they moments and when Elle finds out about Connor's daughter Olivia she opens her heart to that little girl in a beautiful way. The moment that finally pushes then to admit and act on their feeling for one another was really intense and definitely gave me a lump in my throat.

Bossing the Cowboy is a great addition to the Circle B Ranch series. Adding a slow burn, single parent novel to the set is a trope I love and this one did not disappoint.

Elle is working towards her dream of becoming a veterinarian so working with Connor in his veterinary clinic is the best way to ensure that happens. He may be a delight to look at but his abrupt and gruff personality doesn’t exactly make him likeable. She is determined to focus on her career and not give him too much thought until seeing him with his daughter makes her realize she didn’t really know him at all.

The end of his marriage was bitter as his ex-wife tried to make his relationship as difficult as possible with his daughter. Although he may be attracted to Elle he doesn’t need to add another person to the chaos of his life but keeping his distance is becoming harder every day.

Elle’s sassy personality is exactly what Connor needs in his life after everything he has been through as they take us on a heartwarming journey filled with humor heat and all the feel. Not only do the characters of Elle and Connor draw you in but catching up with the other characters we know and love is not something you want to miss. The narrators were a great choice as they brought out all the humor, heat and heart of this story.

I was excited to jump into this one. The build up between Elle and Dr. Wallen (Conner) has been present for the last couple books. So I was ready for them to finally get their story. It was more than I could have hoped for though. This was slow burn magic with a perfect lead up to the two main characters coming together. Not only did I like that they’d known each other for years and had gotten to know each other pretty well despite Conner keeping Elle at a distance. But I also liked that their relationship wasn’t centered around the next time they could get each other in bed. When the moment finally came it felt well earned for the characters and for me as a listener.

And the narration was amazing. I love both narrators individually and have heard them both on different titles before but I loved them together on this one. Tor’s rough gravelly voice was so well matched with the gruff doctor and Lia has this high energy and sass that I loved for Elle.

Overall this was absolutely a five star listen for me and I’m looking forward to what’s next from this author duo and these narrators. Fingers crossed for more of them together in future.

Every Circle B Ranch book (both the original and the second gen) always makes me so incredibly happy when I read it. It was the series that introduced me to a writing duo I'm more than obsessed with so even though this is a brand new book, it almost feels nostalgic. That being said; this was AMAZING. Might be my favourite book of the WHOLE world yet. The connection between Elle and Conner; the incredible family, teasing and all, the writing was unbelievably good. I couldn't put it down. I didn't want it to end in equal measure. I cannot wait for what comes next. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.
