Crossing a line has never felt this good.

I’m what you’d call a good girl—at least that’s what my family thinks. But I’m tired of living by everyone else’s rules. So when I sneak into a scandalous, masked costume party and spot Beau Walker—my longtime crush and my family’s sworn enemy—I do something bold: I cross the one line that's utterly forbidden.

Hidden by shadows and masks, we lose ourselves in the hottest night of my life. Until I accidentally moan his name, and everything comes crashing to a halt.

Beau says things I can’t forget, and my fantasy of him shatters along with my heart.

But when suspicious fires break out at the high school where I teach, I’m forced to see the one firefighter I wish I could forget.

And when our long-smoldering tension finally ignites, the heat between us lights up the sky—and reveals a danger neither of us saw coming.

Burning Skies is an enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance that features a scorchingly hot firefighter and the little sister of his long-time nemesis. If you enjoy cowboy families, old vendettas, and small towns brimming with secrets, this one is for you!

I listened to the audiobook performed by Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood. They did a great job adding emotion to the words and enhancing the story. I would recommend listening to the audiobook.

Burning Skies is the third book in the Wild at Heart series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I appreciate when it takes more than a single sentence to summarize what happened during the book, and a lot happened over the course of this book. There were a few extended intimate scenes, but there was also more to the story than that.

I received a copy of this book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Great narration, stand alone story

Beau and Honey can’t never happen. An old family vendetta, she has a crush on him, a misunderstanding when they were younger and an animosity that keep them fighting are reason enough to keep them apart. But their attraction is powerful and, once they bend their feud, they can’t keep apart from each other. But everything is against them and their relationship. Can they fight for themselves or will their past and present destroy their future? The audiobook with Savannah Peachwood and Steven Dexter is a great addition to a great story. Thanks to Ear Candy Promo for the ALC. this is my honest review

Honey has had feelings for Beau for years however her attempt to show him didn’t end well and she has kept her distance ever since. Between the suspicious things happening at the school where she teachers and her being friends with his soon to be sister-in-law their paths begin crossing but this time around denying her feelings for him is no longer possible.

Beau is a firefighter which brings him to the school where Honey teaches. Her regrets the way the night turned out years earlier however the animosity between their families is stronger than ever. They must not only deal with the past between them but the fact that not everyone is happy that they are together.

This is a heartwarming story about love, family and second chances. Stephen Dexter was the perfect choice for Beau as you can feel how protective and charming he is while Savannah Peachwood portrays both the sass and strength of Honey.

Think Romeo & Juliet — except this time, love wins. 🔥 Lex Martin wrote the star-crossed romance I didn’t know I desperately needed, and Beau and Honey absolutely own my whole heart now. The obstacles between them felt so real and so painful, which made that HEA hit even harder.

Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood narrated this one flawlessly — the emotion, the tension, the tenderness — all of it came through crystal clear. 🎧

If you want a romance that wrecks you AND puts you back together, Burning Skies is it. Already on my re-listen list! 💛

What if you could rewrite the stars ✨

Love is never easy, and when your families are at odds, it's even harder! Honey had a crush on Beau. After a night that started out masked and passionate, the ending quick and ugly left them angry and distant. Now years later, Honey is a teacher in the high school with unusual events happening bringing Beau to the school with the firemen. He begins to check on her and slowly, the animosity they had moved to passion. But the feud between the families wasn't going away, and with her father's power and control, there was no way a relationship would ever work. Martin gives a great look at small town power with a strong thread of family. From support and love to control and greed, the differences are evident and lead the story down an amazing road. I loved this listen with it's amazing characters. Martin continues to wow me with her writing, and this series is incredible.

Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood told me this story and together they pulled in every emotion to make it real and fun. The banter between Beau and Honey is what drives their relationship and these two create a chemistry with this that is undeniable. The voices for each character is spot on, from older brothers to angry fathers and compassionate sister-in-laws and tired mothers, they bring the emotion that is felt in each scene. I think this is a fabulous pairing and they made the listen entertaining.
