I just couldn’t get along with the narration. I know and love this story, but the performance was strained, more so during dramatic elements, like running out of breath but trying to finish the sentence anyway. Seemed to have more emphasis on enunciation and diction than emotion and character.

Narration spoiled it for me.

My favourite so far.

The book is great and I managed to listen right to the end – despite the voice of the narrator. It really grated with me and, even to the end, I never got used to it. Her voice for the character, Roger, sounds like me trying to do Kermit and Fozzy bear at the same time. Also, the sickly-sweet voice of the child was difficult to listen to.

Shame, really, as the book is a classic.

Narrator tried her best to ruin one of my favourite books all I heard was Fozzy Bear from the muppets. Wacca Wacca indeed!
