Richard Ainsworth moved to rural France to escape, so being voted mayor of the small town of Saint-Sauver comes as a terrible shock. Fortunately bureaucracy has its benefits and he is shipped off to a health spa to recuperate.

The Esprit de l'Air is a world-famous venue on an island fort off the west coast of France, and was chosen specifically by his business partner and bounty hunter of international repute, Valérie d'Orçay. Richard should have been prepared then.

After a dramatic first night where a bizarre and unfriendly group of guests are pitched against each other, Richard's film-historian mind wanders. Has he seen this all before? And when the first body turns up, he knows he has...

I love Ian Moore's writing and his narration is perfect. Richard feels like an old friend and his latest laugh-out-loud escapade is littered with musical and film references that kept this old Hollywood fan rummaging round in my memory to see if I could piece the solution together.
Of course I couldn't- nothing with Richard and Valerie is that straightforward- but what fun it was trying.

Another cracker

I was so pleased when I saw there was a new book in this series and Book 6 didn’t disappoint. The characters are carefully crafted and if you’ve listened to the other books you feel like Richard and Valerie are old friends. The relationship between them is wonderful and you find your self really rooting for Richard. Ian Moore’s narration is spot on and I honestly couldn’t stop listening. Hoping there will be a next book.

Another triumph

Richard and Valerié are just the perfect couple, I love how their characters so beautifully complement each other. Crime, Wit, Humour and a dash of Relationship Goals.
Ian Moore is one of the few authors that can narrate his own story and make it even better, most muck it up. He has the perfect pitch and cadence, so that those witty lines, become laugh out loud funny.
The plot in this one was really good, and I can't spoil it, because it's early days. I waited patiently for the release and I've now finished it twice. So hurry up and catch up. Love the homage paid to the founding mystery writers. It's Brilliant 👏🏾

Already can’t wait for Book 7.

Another absolute stunner, an ode to Agatha Christie and all the better for it. Couldn't stop listening, have loved having a new one each spring/summer and look for to next year's just as much to see the adventures of Richard and Valerie. Ian is not a only a fanatastic writer but amazing performer ( seen him do stand up quite a few times over the years) and he as always brings the characters to life with such joy.
