About this listen

In the dust and blazing heat of Helmand, the young men of 16 Air Assault Brigade find themselves in the most relentless battles faced by British troops in recent history. As the only writer to have unrestricted access to the front line, Sam Kiley is there to bear witness to the most intense challenges of their lives. Desperate Glory is an unflinching portrait of the reality of war.

Didn't do a bad job at explaining the abbreviations. gripping chapters. Great journalism. very emotional.

This is a must for anyone who doesn't understand squaddie mentality or why we fight for our mates and country. Filled with interesting banter and an insight into the mind of a modern day solider. These guys are real heroes and this is day to day in Afghanistan for their entire tour. Takes the story from every angle of army employment from truck driver to medic to infantry solider. Please read!!!!

Had to stop listening to this book after a desperate 15 minutes of "trying to hang in there".

First of all the Irish accent of the narrator is cringeworthy! Trying to avoid that, the desperate "Hollywood-isation" of the words was terrible.

Written as if it was a punchy hard hitting Hollywood script was not what I was looking for.

I gave this one star only because I couldn't give it ZERO......

Aaaaaarghhhhhhh!!!
