Who am I?

I've forgotten the answer to that question long ago. Ever since I ran from that house, so desperate to escape, I left with only the clothes on my back and socks on my feet. After that day, I've only ever walked in stolen shoes.

Could I be a girl who is searching for the meaning of life in faceless men? They were all so forgettable. Until he came along. He took me under a waterfall and made me forget my name, and in return, I took his instead.

Enzo Vitale.

An enigmatic man who will only ever love the deep sea. Or rather the predators that inhabit it. Turns out, he's not so different than the monsters he feeds. He lured me onto his boat like a fish in the ocean, seeking vengeance for my crime. Had I realized his intentions, and that a massive storm would leave us shipwrecked, I would've run.

Now, I'm a girl who's seeking refuge in a decrepit lighthouse with a man who loathes me almost as much as he craves me. He wants to hurt me, but the old caretaker of the abandoned island may have intentions far more sinister.

It's no longer a question of who I am, but rather, will I survive?

Had this downloaded for a while before I got round to listening to it.
Once I started I just couldn’t stop. Fantastic story brilliantly narrated by Troy and Michelle. I’ve listed to a few of their duets and they are always 5⭐️

Brilliant

I read the book for this story a while ago and really liked it, but this audio version is just amazing. The way the narrators bring life to these two characters had me captivated from the start. You can feel the feelings and they really did the author proud in bringing her words to life. 100% recommend to anyone looking for something intensely dark, spicy, funny, and full of twists and turns.

Amazing - simply amazing.

Very relatable book at the beginning of the story, great performance by the narrators.
The imagination of the author is beyond as usual.
Not as dark as some people say either..
Loved it overall, easy to finish.

Better than you think!

I have recently listened to all H. D. Carlton books and this is definitely my favourite.

Once again, please don't ignore the trigger warnings.
I loved the plot, the story, the characters and how imperfect they are and of course, the writing style and the flow of the book. And of course, Enzo has been added in my list of bookboyfriends!

The berformance of the audiobook is top notch as well! Even though I'd love a little bit more Italian Accent practice from the narrator, but it was not bad at all.

I adore the duet narration style of all the books of the author and I am not sure how I could listen to anything else anymore.

Now I am very impatiently waiting for the next H.D. Carlton book.

This book is Everything!

I love that it’s a real duo voice performance. The actors are awesome! Very natural and great timbre. Love the dash of Italian. The story however… the everlasting so called “hate” between Sawyer and Enzo is non realistic (as are some of the dialogues) and drags on and on. The spicy scenes are great although every once a while the sequence of actions are a little unclear. The “men need to save & protect women” mantra is old fashioned and patriarchal. This is 2023. Story twists are for me a little bit too fabricated and made up (like accepting ‘ghosts’ by the main characters).

Irrealistic yet great voices & spicyness
