**Title:** TheBook Builds up but Ends with a Shrug
If you are looking for a thriller series with high-octane action, great pacing, and truly excellent characters, the Jack Kane series by Dan Stone delivers on that front. The narration on the audiobooks is top-notch, and the setup surrounding the "hidden enemy" keeps you hooked and listening for hours.
However, after investing my time into these books, I have never been more frustrated by an author’s inability—or refusal—to wrap up a storyline.
It feels like the author writes until he hits a maximum word count limit, realizes he's out of space, and just stops. Instead of giving the listener a satisfying, hard-earned climax to the massive conspiracy he spent books building up, the plot is essentially abandoned. When the next book starts, the massive cliffhanger from the previous book is casually dropped or resolved in a few lazy paragraphs before moving on to something else.
It is incredibly maddening to spendb time building up tension only to get the literary equivalent of a shrug. If you want great character chemistry and mindless action, you will enjoy this. But if you expect an author to actually stick the landing and deliver a satisfying conclusion to the mystery, prepare to be deeply disappointed.
Great Characters, Terrific Action, but a Total Failure on the Payoff
