This book completely changed my understanding of arguments in a relationship and taught me how to be a better partner. Thank you.

So very useful

Not just the content but also the way it was read. Beautiful job. I don't think I would have captured the spirit of the book from just reading it. Well done!

Very well put together

Warning: this book is an emotional roller-coaster. It’s not for the faint of heart. On the contrary, it’s for anyone brave enough to want to truly understand the dynamics of their relationships, and who is prepared to listen and be changed as a result.

I knew a fair amount about attachment theory before listening to this book, but hearing it put into practice in the context of real relationships (and brilliantly narrated, by Helen Keeley, who has a real gift for conveying difficult emotions) has been a game-changer for me, translating what was merely an academic understanding into something visceral and real. I cried. A lot. There were powerful moments of “Oh my god, that’s me they’re talking about”.

There are a few passages of self-promotion about “the new science of love” that made me think “yeah, yeah, get on with it” and I found the last chapter a bit self-indulgent, but the meat of the book is invaluable and I recommend it without reservation to anyone wishing to understand their relationships and themselves in a deeper way.

Hard to listen to, but worth every minute

I’ve seen another review saying this was just for couples. Not at all. I’ve been able to reflect on past relationships and the mistakes in communication that I made. I’ve worked out how my traumas have affected my relationships and why I’m drawn to avoidant men. Thoroughly valuable for everyone.

Not just for couples
