Harry Barnett, a middle-aged failure, leads a shabby existence. He is reduced to caretaking a friend's villa on the island of Rhodes and working in a bar to earn his keep. Very well read and performed and a strong story very typical of the author. Harry is an excellent central character.

It just went on a bit too long. If I had been actually reading it I would have skimmed quite a few pages especially towards the end, although definitely worth listening to overall.

Whilst this story is a tangent away from my normal genres the reviews enticed me in.
Tbh the combination of yarn and narrator gripped me from the start.
A story which is paced well, interesting, strong narration and ticks along nicely to a good conclusion is a great exchange for my monthly credit. Thank you
