I listened to this book because I put weight on during menopause. The book is a very interesting narrative of the whole process of menopause. It includes a section on weight gain, but then the majority of the book covers what helps manage symptoms. It is liberally peppered with evidence and research on hacks/strategies/approaches and gives a lot of advice on what works. It was an informative listen. The advice on weight was only part of the book, so maybe the title was misleading.

This book really makes you realise just how much you can do to help yourself through what can be, or we have led to believe can be, difficult years. Actually they don't need to be difficult years, we just need to take responsibility for our own health & wellbeing! I didn't love the American reader but the content is so good, well researched, referenced & very comprehensive. I loved the use of the word curious, we should definitely all be more curious about the world around us! Thank you for enlightening my journey in my menopausal years, they are not to be feared but to be enjoyed & celebrated.

This book provides a wealth of information. It is research based and pulls together many different strands of information to help anyone who wants to find ways to improve their health and well-being though the menopause. This can be a very challenging phase of life but Jane Thurnell-Read is able to convince the listener that whilst it is a time of change it is also a time to embrace positive self-care with all the benefits of doing so including but not limited to weight loss. Chapter one is titled ‘Information in your hands and hope in your heart’ which I think summarises exactly what this book provides. It leaves the listener feeling that they now have reliable information to help them make the choices that will work for them to take back control of their lives. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels that they want a simple way to take back control of their life during the menopause.

This book covered all the important aspects of going through menopause and gave some really helpful tips for each situation. It is a great book to listen to from beginning to end or to dip in and out of to use the relevant sections when needed. I would recommend this to anyone at any point of their menopause.
