I liked this for what I expected it to be, a cosy read. I thought it could have so much more in many ways.
I enjoyed the first book which is why I bought this one. I found this book edging a bit towards Mills & Boon in many of the descriptions.

I really enjoyed the first of this series and the second lived up to it. These are gentle whodunits with likeable characters. Nice twists in the plot keep up the interest. It moves quite slowly but the backstories are quite entertaining. Definitely not 'gritty', more Agatha Christie or Midsummer Murders. I can't wait for the next one. Excellently read as well.

I'm left feeling somewhat disappointed. In contrast to the first book this plot felt contrived and a lot of time was wasted on scene setting from the previous story which is frustrating if you've already read that one. Characters appear that have little or no connection with the plot and presumably are included just to divert attention. The sergeant's attitude to the main character goes from one extreme to another. All in all it's just not as good as book 1. Shame.
