I really liked this book although I kept having to re listen quite a bit to understand the characters and plot. However, I still liked the story and the narration. Definitely one to recommend

i used to read Mr Seymour's books decades ago, im hooked again with audible- this is gripping from start to what i thought was an extended finish, in a good way! the story reached a point when i thought hadn't seen that coming, wot a book, then it continued for another 3 hours in different directions

wow the story that keeps on giving

Excellent narration of what started out as a lucid tale. I was enjoying the well written tale detailing the interactions and characterisation of the MCs, settling into the "mafia/spy" genre, but with 11 hrs and 38 minutes to go, when events, IMO, took a dip as Jago goes to beard Marcantonio in his own territory. One doesn't chase a lion into his den without the skills and ability to survive, which Jago, as a banker does not appear to have. It made me jolt to a stop and I haven't had to courage to proceed; i fear for this MC and the outcome. Is Jago foolish or brave? is Seymour pitting him into a battle too far? Will Jago be martyred?

Perhaps I will finish the book, but not just now.

I can't think of a worse ending to what was otherwise a superb story narrated by the extraordinarily talented Ben Allen. I could think of several ways of wrapping it all up but that was not one of them. Unbelievable and ridiculous .... as if!

The last 10 minutes ruined an excellent story.
