About this listen

Millions of otherwise rational and mature men and women are driven to self defeating, out-of-control behavior by intense, unfulfilled desire. Millions of others—targets of their obsession—find their lives turned upside down by unwanted attention, harassment, and attempts at coercion.

Acclaimed therapist Dr. Susan Forward offers crucial help to both obsessors and targets. Using vivid case histories, drawn largely from her two decades of practice, Dr. Forward outlines the stage of obsessive love—from romance to rejection, from pursuit to revenge.

In a compassionate exploration of the roots of obsessive love, targets are given practical strategies for assertive communication and self-protection. Obsessors learn proven techniques to reduce their torment and to bring self-destructive behavior under control, allowing for the development of new, healthy relationships.

Valuable information. Could be a little more information about why lovers get rejected, the author touches on it but there is no depth. I think some of the reasons why people obsess is because they don't always get closure.

There is good background on childhood trauma and this is very useful.

Worthwhile read, good information

Informativo, útil, e directo, com bastantes conselhos práticos. É um livro mais sumarizado, mas talvez melhor por isso.
