The narrator was definitely better in this than my previous experience of him. Apart from some references to wars, the book didn’t seem dated although I think it was written in the 80’s. The characters were well drawn and likeable in the main. Although, even with all the energy / action Joe puts in sometimes the description of him seemed as though it was referring to a doddering old man! Otherwise, nice to discover a “new” author and series.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator has the perfect voice for Gunther. The plot and twists are perfect they keep you wanting more mak8ng it almost impossoble to stop listening. The only down part for me was sometimes Gunther would spend to much time talking about non relevant things but some may appreciate thos as it adds flavour to the characters. This being said I have straight away started listening to book 2 so this does not affect ant enjoyment at all. I cant wait to see where Gunther takes me next. Oh I believe the book is based in 1986 and we all know yhe 80s are the best

Archer Mayor has introduced a great character in this complicated, very readable and convincing plot. Hope his next book is as good as this one
