Frieda Klein reluctantly faces a case that penetrates to her very core. Saturday Requiem is classic Nicci French - a dark, gripping and sophisticated masterclass in psychological suspense in which nothing is quite what it seems . . .

Thirteen years ago eighteen year old Hannah Docherty was arrested for the brutal murder of her family. It was an open and shut case and Hannah's been incarcerated in a secure hospital ever since.

When psychotherapist Frieda Klein is asked to meet Hannah and give her assessment of her she reluctantly agrees. What she finds horrifies her. Hannah has become a tragic figure, old before her time. And Frieda is haunted by the thought that Hannah might be as much of a victim as her family; that something wasn't right all those years ago.

And as Hannah's case takes hold of her, Frieda soon begins to realise that she's up against someone who'll go to any lengths to protect themselves . . .

Saturday Requiem is the sixth addictive and intriguing novel in the Frieda Klein series by the bestselling author Nicci French.

Would you consider the audio edition of Saturday Requiem to be better than the print version?

can't say only ever listen to books very rarely read an actual book

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Carlson, and Joseph, although they didn't feature quite so much this time, if there is going to be a Sunday, and I hope there will be I think Frieda needs to get a bit of OOOmph

Have you listened to any of Beth Chalmers’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, up there with the best, she has such a lovely reading voice..

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not at all I like to savour the stories from Nicci French

Any additional comments?

Yes, not as good as previous instalments a few similarities to the storyline, definitely trailed off towards the end, and a bit of a mediocre ending to be honest

OK but a little similar to previous volumes

Did not realise when I bought this in the Daily Deal that this was the 6th in a series! Really enjoyed it though due to the above felt like I was missing something, that will teach me to check first! Enjoyed it so much I have just bought the first in the series.

Did not realise!

Not a bad listen - though I have to admit that 2 weeks after finishing it I have forgotten ‘whodunnit ‘! It was that memorable!
The subplot about the stalker was a boring and unnecessary distraction in a book that already overan with characters. I know it’s meant to tease you into the next book but for me it has done the exact opposite. Shan’t be listening to any more.

Easy listen

Great characterisation, with the usual team, and in many ways a strong storyline, but...

The ending is rushed and totally wrong. I want clues and the ability to second guess, this seems random and mechanical.

Maybe take a little longer with the next one

the series is getting better and this is the best book so far.

it has a bit more of a story within a story and a twist at the end.

well read and easy to listen to
