As Wodehouse himself once noted, "Blandings has impostors like other houses have mice." On this particular occasion, there are two imposters, both intent on a dangerous enterprise. Lord Emsworth's secretary, the Efficient Baxter, is on the alert and determined to discover what is afoot - despite the distractions caused by the Honorable Freddie Threepwood's hapless affair of the heart.

I struggled to get through the first couple of chapters because of the strange, breathy reading of the narrator. Once the dialogue comes in and he gets to "do all the voices", the narrator settles down and doesn't detract from the humourous text.

Really, after over 100 years, it seems there are those who love the wry wit of P.G. Wodehouse, and those who just don’t get it. I am fixedly in the first category and this installment in the Blandings/Wooster universe (as they say nowadays) is as good a treat as ever. Not many writers consistently cause me to chuckle out loud. But P.G. Makes me a positive nuisance on the train etc. Treat yourself to some well written nonsense and you will almost certainly feel lighter for it.

This is one strenuously to avoid. A wonderful and familiar story entirely ruined by the narration. Frederick Davidson's interpretation, a supercilious nasal drawl, ruins this and I'm abandoning at Chapter 5

This one I would rather read in a paper format. The narrator is dreadful. His intonation is utterly bizarre. Extremely annoying to listen to.
