‘Classic Lynda, a fabulous read’ MARTINA COLE

‘Lynda La Plante practically invented the thriller’ KARIN SLAUGHTER

From the creator of the award-winning ITV series Prime Suspect, starring Helen Mirren, comes the fascinating back story of the iconic DCI Jane Tennison.

In 1973 Jane Tennison, aged 22, leaves the Metropolitan Police Training Academy to be placed on probationary exercise in Hackney where criminality thrives.

We witness her struggle to cope in a male-dominated, chauvinistic environment, learning fast to deal with shocking situations with no help or sympathy from her superiors.

Then comes her involvement in her first murder case.

I bought this to listen to on my recent driving trip to Wales with my husband

The story was great and I loved the characters.

When we got home the story had not finished and my husband said - "you need to tell me how it ends" - he does not listen or read books (other than WW1 books) but this story gripped him so much he wanted to know the ending.

I love Lynda la Plante books and this one is no exception.

Get this you will not be disappointed.

Glad to see Tennison back

The start of something good

It was good to go back in time to when Jane Tennison started her career. I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to listening to the others.

Took me back

This book exceeded my expectations, it reflects the prejudices of the period perfectly without being uncomfortable for a present day reader or listener. The book kept my attention from beginning to end and I enjoyed every minute of it.

A very good read
