Assassination. War. Betrayal. Who is Thorne really fighting for?

Thorne has honed his skills in Uncle's assassination guild as one of the Lost Ones, and embarks on his last mission before being formally inducted.

The mission sets Uncle's ambitious plans for Thorne into motion—but also the far-reaching plans of their enemies. Alvar is fast becoming a ticking time bomb, and Thorne must transcend his limits to shape the final outcome.

But Thorne's power is attracting notice even beyond Alvar. The more potent his aetheric abilities, the harder they are to conceal.

And if he's discovered for what he is, it's game over.

Dive into an epic adventure that follows an ambitious MC as he claws his way to the heights of power, mastering blades and magic alike. Perfect for fans of King's Dark Tidings!

This was so good. One of those stories so captivating that it plays like a movie in my mind as I listen. My only complaint would be that the romance did not work at all. Glaringly the weakest point of the story.. But then again, considering the circumstances & goals of the characters, maybe that failed romance was intentional writing that we were meant to catch before the characters themselves...

Amazing.

Good things first, the best written character is honestly uncle, great combined mentor and antagonist/villain archetype. the dynamic between the MC and uncle is probably what makes to he story worth reading.

I really want to like it more than I do but the 'do first regret not thinking later' attitude that the mc has annoyed me to no end. I would understand that at the start of the first book but its doing it throughout both books without learning anything other than fighting skills/abilities.

I also feel that keeping something personal secret from your friends is not betrayal (apparently they have not discovered the concept of privacy yet).
some big moments in the book fall really flat because of that.

Good voice actor though.

mc with severe lack of critical thinking
