What an amazing story. I stayed up because I couldn’t stop listening to. I wanted to strangle Mary her mother in law. Such hard lives people had then. It was beautifully narrated. I loved it.

I really enjoyed this book

Wonderful narration this story had me gripped from start to finish. Sarah’s story is one of love , hate and jealousy. A harrowing tale of how love comes in surprising places. Highly recommend

Classic Catherine Cookson

This is probably one of my favourites & Sarah, one of my favourite characters. The story is just as dramatic as other Cookson stories, but seems more believable. Susan Jameson is a fantastic narrator. I cannot imagine anyone else reading Catherine Cookson.

Another Addictive Catherine Cookson

I never thought I'd say anything but good about Catherine Cooksons books, but I still have no idea where she was going with the story after getting to the end. it seemed rushed with no real body to it. Very disappointed.

not one of her best books
