Strange things are happening all around Brinnswick. Things that remind me of a piece of my past I’d rather forget. Girls are being killed, drained of blood, and left with strange markings on their bodies. When I finally connect the cases together, a specialist is called in - though, what he’s a specialist of is beyond me.

When the chief assigns him as my new partner for the case, I can’t help but groan on the inside. Why of all people would I be assigned to Ailin Ellwood? The man is a disaster waiting to happen and a jerk to boot. A sexy jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.

What will Sebastian think when he discovers Ailin’s specialty? Will he make a run for it or will he stick around and discover a world of magic hidden beneath the city’s surface?

The Enchanter’s Flame is the first book in the Ellwood Chronicles. It’s a paranormal romance that contains explicit material and is intended for mature adults 18 years of age and over.

I really enjoyed the magic system & world and I thought Ailin and his coven were great, but I found Seb so irritating and probably the worst I’ve read for double standards. He is consistently rude, argumentative, defensive, combative, disrespectful, ignorant and childish for literally no reason. I cannot fathom how this man is supposed to be 35? He genuinely acts 15/16 at all times and it’s infuriating. I think if he’d been written as a 21 year old (max) I could have overlooked the behaviour at times but it’s a huge ick on a 35 year old. For a detective he sure struggles to comprehend even basic information and can’t piece anything together; it’s a very weird choice.
Ailin tries to have a bit of fun of with him and he’s immediately rude and spiteful towards him. After reading book 0.5 witches seal I dislike him even more after seeing what Ailin has been through. I could also cry for Emrys after reading that so please read that book before you move on to book 2! It’s a little novella and definitely worth it!

I will definitely continue on to book 2 as I really like the plot and magic system I just really hope Seb isn’t so annoying going forward and stops wishing harm on defenceless animals and small creatures, he really is a horrible character at times the amount of times he points guns at small animals is honestly concerning!

Really like the plot/world

Sebastian was found when his parents died and raised in the Academy. Now he works as a detective and when murder cases grow by the day his boss teams him up with Ailen. A surly and strange man who takes him deeper into a world he never knew existed. Suddenly warlocks, witches and demons are all around him and after him. Why they don't know but that becomes clear when the bonding process between Ailen and Sebastian begin, they are soulmates. Ailen can't do nothing than protect Sebastian with his very own life. This first book in this series introduces us with a different magical world and the bonding between two souls, who at first don't seem to really like eachother. I love where this is going and can't wait to read what's up next. Kenneth Obi does as always an amazing job. He has a whole arsenal of voices and the way he does the demon gives you the creeps.

The Enchanter’s Flame is book 1 in the Elwood Chronicles by Michele Notaro. I debated for months on when to start this one, out of fear that I wouldn’t like it because this was a new genre for me. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book has everything and more. It has good characters with great dialogue and chemistry, stellar narration, suspense, magic, and even an adorable snake named George (yes, I can’t believe I just described a snake as adorable either).

I can’t say enough good things about the narration. Kenneth Obi knocked this one out the park with his distinctive voices and comic timing. I found myself so wrapped up in the snappy and definitely comical conversations between Seb and Ailin that I almost forgot that I wasn’t actually watching a movie. I can count on one hand the amount of audios I have listened too that I can say that about. Also, I may have listened to Ailin’s baby talk to George about a dozen times because it was hilarious and so, perfectly unexpected.

If you like magic, suspense, and a little romance, then you must listen to this 5⭐️ narrated masterpiece ASAP.

This book was so much more exciting than I was expecting. A truly surprising and gripping storyline, full of shocks and twists. Kenneth Obi's narration brings a depth to the characterisation as well as the dramatic effect that makes this such a fun listen. I can't wait fur the next in the series.

The Enchanter's Flame(The Ellwood Chronicles, Book 1) by Michele Notaro.I loved this PNR. The story develops nicely. A good combination of world building and character development. It's a slow burn romance. I can't wait to listen to the next one.
The Narrator Kenneth Obi did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.
