Started out well then slowly descended into farce. Seen fewer holes in a Swiss cheese than this silly plot. Not helped by an over enthusiastic narrator. Her acting out of the children’s parts was a little too authentic for my liking, bordered on the shrill.

This audible book is brilliantly read & kept me listening and enjoying throughout. It seems to be a bit like Marmite, people love it or hate it - it is light entertainment, keeps the pace, and I would recommend it for what it is. The various voices for the many characters are sustained throughout and the clarity of her voice makes for an easy listen.

In audible version, I really enjoyed this one.

I wish Kate had a bit more of a back bone, but loved the story

I was disappointed. The build up was way too long for my taste and I got bored with the characters and their mundane squabbles. Suddenly it woke up right at the end and the last 10 chapters were great but the first 70+ chapters were a high price to pay. Narrator was also rather stilted in my opinion.

This book is truly excellent. Excellent plot. Clever idea and construction. Details all perfect. You are unlikely to guess 'who dunnit'. All the characters are believable and well formed ... even the children. The language is great and no annoying errors or repetitions. At a difficult time this book absolutely distracted me for an hour or so a day and really helped me relax.

The narrator is brilliant. Her tone and pacing are perfect and her accents, male voices and children's voices are absolutely believable. Her voice for one particularly annoying child is seriously accurate. All the observations of children are extremely good - real insight here and with the narration of the small children and teenage voices being so good it adds another dimension to a crime/thriller novel which in most narrated books is usually just a bit yuck!
