A terrible wife...

Sarah Westfield is unhappily married to perfect husband Nick. Handsome, devoted and kind, he should be the ideal man for her, but Sarah knows their marriage is the biggest mistake she’s ever made…and she wants out.

But then Nick offers her one last chance to make their marriage work – a baby.

Sarah is horrified – a baby would tie herself to this man forever…wouldn’t it? Or could it be exactly what she needs?

So Sarah agrees.

A terrible mother?

When the baby arrives, Sarah struggles with motherhood and her resentment towards Nick only grows. Sarah feels more trapped than ever, but she loves her precious daughter...doesn’t she?

And then baby Kaya goes missing...

Sarah was quite infuriating at times but on the whole I enjoyed this book, plenty of suspense and not quite knowing what would happen next

Great twists and turns

This was a perfectly decent thriller—it hit all the right beats, kept a steady pace, and delivered the kind of story you expect when you press play on something like this. But that’s the thing: it didn’t surprise me. I kept waiting for the characters to do something unexpected or for the final twist to really land, but it never quite got there.

It’s not bad by any means—just safe. One of those thrillers you enjoy while it’s happening but probably won’t think about much once it’s done. The audiobook narration was solid, too—well performed, easy to listen to, but nothing especially standout.

All in all, a good filler read. Enjoyable, but forgettable.

Solid, but nothing to write home about
