Most people think I’m a moron. In actuality, I’m a man with a plan.

It’s one of those three-year plans that takes longer than three years.

Still, I’ve been making it happen. Checking off those to-dos and turning them into to-dones.

Everything is almost lined up.

And then my phone rings.

By the time I get to Jess, she’s unconscious and bleeding.

My carefully crafted plan blows up in my face.

I tell the hospital we’re engaged. We aren’t, but apparently, in that place, you need a permission slip to see your most important, so I do what has to be done.

I toss together an epic apology salad for when she opens her eyes, and when she does…She asks me who I am.

I’m willing to overlook the insult since, you know, head injury, but then Nurszilla spills the beans on our pending nuptials.

And just like that, my friend turns into my fiancé, and I’m not even mad at it.

How could I be? Her curves fit in my arms perfectly. Kissing her is like whoa and makes me forget I’m living a lie.

I know I have to come clean, but someone dirtier than me is stalking my final girl, and until she remembers who, it’s on me to keep her safe.

The closer we get, the guiltier I feel.

When all this is over, will she forgive me? Or will everything I’ve done cost me everything I’ve always wanted?

WHOA is a college sports romance novel and can be listened to as a standalone.

Whoa is the sixth book in the Westbrook Elite Series. It can also be read as a standalone. Ben and Jess have been friends since middle school. Ben's parents did not approve of their friendship. She is not from the same social class as Ben and his parents are. Now in college they are still friends. Jess sees a crime and gets attacked. She called Ben, but he did not make it fast enough. He found Jess passed out and a head injury. He takes Jess to the hospital. The nurses would not give Ben any information on Jess because they are not family. He decides to tell them that they are engaged. Jess has lost the last few years of her memory. This is a friends to lovers. I loved how much Ben and Jess were perfect for each other.

Celia Stone and Michael Norman Johnson did a fantastic job narrating this book.

Book six of this series and I still can't get enough. Cambria Hebert writes Ben and Jess's story, and I am all in on this friends to lovers story. Jess is in trouble. She is being followed and calls her best friend Ben for help. These two have been tight since middle school, and he runs to her rescue to find her at the bottom of the stairs, unconscious. Now awake with amnesia, she finds her fiance, Ben there at her side. Yes, you read that right. Always loving each other in secret, it seemed natural for Ben to claim her in the hospital, and now that she doesn't remember, she hangs on to the feelings she innately feels with Ben . But what happens when she finds out the truth? And who is trying to kill her? Will Elite keep her safe? Not only is this full of love, it' family, friendship and high suspense! I love the whodunnit element plus hanging out with the Elites is just like being in the best friend circle. I loved this addition to the series!

Michael Norman Johnson and Celia Stone are the story tellers and their voices had me captivated for the entire listen. Johnson is Ben, all heart, loyalty and love. Johnson brings out all the feels as Ben. Stone is Jess, trusting, friendly, loving, and each feeling is genuine. I enjoyed this listen!

I love this series. I'm also certain I've read this before but I haven't reviewed it so I mustn't have. Regardless Ben and Jess were totally adorable and Ben is one of the funniest characters in this series. Mutual pining will get me every time and this has tonnes of it.

I was happy to jump back into this entertaining world of college swimmers that I’d so enjoyed in previous books. This was definitely what I’d consider a slow burn story, but given the circumstances the plot was based around and what happened to the leading lady, Jess, it was understandable. There were moments in the story that I found the leading man, Ben/Kruger, to be a bit over the top in his possessive or protective behaviors. I understood that the point was to show just how far he was willing to go in his dedication to Jess. And I can honestly say I was never in any doubt of his feelings for her. I also knew he was a good guy and he was coming from a good place. But sometimes the way he talked to the nurses and doctors in the hospital felt like a bit much. Other than that, I really liked both main characters and enjoyed getting to see the characters and couples from the previous book of the series as well. The narration was excellent and easy to listen to. Both performers had great tones for the main characters and did a pretty good job with the number of secondary characters that needed voicing as well.
