The breathtakingly twisty new thriller – guaranteed to shock and surprise

I’m alive. But I can’t be saved …

When a woman’s body is found submerged in icy water, police are shocked to find she is alive. But she won’t disclose her name, or what happened to her – even when a second body is discovered. And then she disappears from her hospital bed.

Detectives Adrian Miles and Imogen Grey follow their only lead to the home of the Corrigans, looking for answers. But the more they dig into the couple’s lives, the less they understand about them.

What’s their connection to the body in the river?

Why have other people they know been hurt, or vanished?

And can they discover the dark truth of their marriage before it’s too late?

Smart, shocking and twisty – perfect for fans of Cara Hunter and Karin Slaughter.

Great gripping story

This book will stay with me for a long time - not only exciting and full of twists and characters you feel you know but parts of the story made such an impression on me, I will never forget it. I know that sounds OTT but this is a brilliantly written book - shocking and thought-provoking. The narration is also first class which makes is such a huge factor in an audio-book.

An amazing, amazing book

fast moving storyline, well narrated excellent well developed characters. Twists and turns till the last chapter loved it

complex storyline

I was disappointed with this one, it seems mostly to revolve around Adrian, he gets far too emotionally involved in this case due to the issues with his parents when he was growing up, he gets more involved (in a violent way) later in the story, but this adds very little to the story and only shows the reader what we already know : That Mr Corrigan is a very nasty man! And also answers the questions as to ''how does anybody come by that much power?'' Although this does enlighten Adrian a little, as to why many victims fail to co-operate with the police which is of some value to the story.

The interplay between Imogen and Adrian was annoying, from both sides, I wanted to bang their heads together, I really did.

The Angela POV parts are also really annoying as they basically just repeat what you've just heard (or read) and her habit of referring to Reece (Mr Corrigan) as 'R' is really aggravating. It only adds to the story right at the end, when you learn what you've already figured out.

Stevie Lacey does a good job with the narration as usual except for the random and bizarre (bad) welsh accents that pop up so frequently throughout the story.

All in all, it's a good solid story, well written as usual but, and it's a big BUT, it's nowhere near what I what expecting and hoping for from this sixth book.

Disappointing but great ending

Good story, great sub plot line with Adrian, done really sensitively. I love stevie lacey as a narrator but the Welsh accents were not good! Doesn't distract from the well written, captivating story though.

Sensitive issues, really well written.
