Small Whisper is an overview of Christian belief for Christians new to theology or those who haven't studied it in a while, as well as for non-believers curious about the faith. Listeners are encouraged to start with Episode 1 and follow the series in order.

Episode 3: God is Personal

God is the absolute power in the universe. He is not an impersonal force. God is personal.

A few examples of personal traits:

1. God possesses knowledge

Job 28:20, 23, 24

2. God creates plans and acts on them

Isaiah 55:11, Acts 2:23

3. God feels emotion

Genesis 6:6, Psalm 104:31, Psalm 111:4, Jeremiah 31:3

4. God responds to requests from others

God is Father

A few examples:

Jesus teaches us to pray to “Our Father…”

Matthew 6:9

Abba is an Aramaic term of closeness with a father. Jesus prays to his Father as Abba, and Paul teaches the same for us.

Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15-16, Galatians 4:6

Matthew 7:9-11

The father in Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son teaches us about God our Father.

Five World Views

Christian Theism: monotheistic, God is transcendent and immanent

Deism: God is the creator. God is absent (not immanent)

Pantheism: Everything is god. No transcendence.

Polytheism: many gods

Naturalism: only matter exists. No God.
