    The fortieth face-to-face event (held at the Notting Hill Hotel on Monday February 16, 2026) featured speaker John Roskam. John spoke on the topic of 'How Christians Can Succeed Today'. How Christians Can Succeed Today

    NB: Due to illness, Greg Sheridan (our original speaker) is no longer able to speak at this God and Beer- please pray for his health.

    We are pleased to announce that John Roskam, former Executive Director of the Institute for Public Affairs, will be joining us instead. John frequently appears in the media, including Sky News, the ABC, 3AW, etc. to share his thoughts on the key political issues facing Australia.

    At God and Beer, John will speak on the challenges and opportunities facing Christians in contemporary Western society. In a time marked by cultural uncertainty and shifting moral foundations, how can believers live confidently, contribute meaningfully, and build institutions that endure? Drawing on his first-hand experience in politics and the media, John will explore how Christians can succeed in the world today.

    This promises to be an evening of good conversation, fellowship, and faith. We hope you’ll join us!

    The thirty-ninth face-to-face event (held at the Notting Hill Hotel on Monday November 10, 2025) featured speaker Paul Morrissey. Paul spoke on the topic of 'Five Books Every Catholic Should Read'.

    The Books Every Catholic Should Read

    CS Lewis once said that we must read at least one old book for each new one - but which ones to read? In this inspiring and practical talk, Dr Paul Morrissey, President of Campion College, explores five timeless works that every Catholic should know. From the wisdom of the saints to the brilliance of the great Christian thinkers, these books illuminate what it means to live a life of faith, reason, and love in today’s world. Dr Morrissey shows how reading well can form the soul, deepen one’s understanding of God, and awaken a love for truth and beauty that endures for life.

    Dr Paul Morrissey is the President of Campion College, Australia’s first liberal arts college, dedicated to renewing education through the integration of faith and reason. A theologian and educator a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Lateran University in Rome. Before joining Campion, he taught at Notre Dame University and worked as a Secondary School teacher. His leadership at Campion reflects his deep conviction that true is found in pursuing the good, the true, and the beautiful. This promises to be an evening of good conversation, fellowship, and faith. We hope you’ll join us!

    Male and Female He Created Them

    Our next God and Beer evening will explore the theme Male and Female He Created Them. Drawing on St John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, our presenters will reflect on what it means to be created as male and female, and how this truth shapes our relationships, our capacity for love, and our call to authentic communion. Together, we’ll consider how God’s plan for humanity can guide us in navigating questions of identity, marriage, and human dignity today.

    Matthew MacDonald is a Melbourne-based counsellor with a background in business, ministry, and education. With more than a decade of experience working with young adults, couples, and families, as well as his own vocation as a husband and father, Matt brings a rich perspective on how faith and therapy can work together to uncover the “masterpiece” within each person. His qualifications include a Master of Theology (Marriage and Family) from the John Paul II Institute and a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Cairnmillar Institute.

    Stephanie De Niese is a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Mornington and the founder of Movement with Steph. She works with individuals, couples, and families in areas such as anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationships. A CCAA-registered member, she brings both professional expertise and a deep Christian commitment to her work, helping people find healing and strength through integrated mind–body approaches.
