    Sunday Service: May 17, 2026

    Sermon by: Rev. Keith Mozingo

    Readings:

    First reading is taken from

    1 Samuel, Chapter 18, Verse 1 and

    II Samuel, Chapter 1, Verse 26

    (The New King James Version)

    Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

    I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me; Your love to me was wonderful, surpassing the love of women.

    Second reading is taken from Ruth, Chapter 1,

    Verses 16 and 17

    (The New King James Version)

    But Ruth said to Naomi:

    “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you;

    For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;

    Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.

    Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried.

    The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.”

    Gospel reading, taken from Matthew, Chapter 8,

    Verses 5 through 10 and 13

    (The New King James Version)

    Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”

    And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

    The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

    When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
