  • 17. The Devil's Mark
    Jun 5 2026

For centuries, the Devil has stalked the folklore of Britain.

Not merely as the ruler of Hell described in scripture, but as a wanderer of lonely roads, a tempter upon windswept hills, and a dark presence lurking in the shadows of the British landscape.

In this episode of Mythic Albion, we explore some of Britain's most chilling devil legends and the strange places said to bear his mark.

We begin with the infamous Devil's Footprints of 1855, when mysterious hoofprints appeared across the snow-covered countryside of Devon, sparking panic throughout Victorian England. From there, we uncover the tale of the Mowing Devil, a sinister figure said to have cut a farmer's field in a single night, and the legend of Piers Shonks, the dragon-slayer who outwitted the Devil himself.

Our journey continues to the haunted heights of Chanctonbury Ring, where local folklore claims the Devil may be summoned beneath the moonlight, before visiting the mysterious Devil's Chair and the dramatic landscape of Devil's Dyke, whose very creation was blamed upon Satan's handiwork.

Along the way, we discover how Christianity transformed ancient pagan sites into places of fear, how the Devil became woven into the geography of Britain, and why these stories have endured for centuries.

From windswept hills and ancient earthworks to unexplained footprints in the snow, this is a journey into the dark heart of British folklore.

Because in Britain, the Devil was never far away.

Mythic Albion — where history, legend and folklore meet in the shadows.

  • 16. The Legends of the Seven Seas
    May 22 2026

    Black sails on the horizon.

    Cannons thundering through the mist.
The creak of timber beneath blood-soaked decks.

In this episode of Mythic Albion, we sail into the violent and mythologised world of the pirates — the outlaws, privateers, rebels and monsters who haunted the seas during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Far from the romantic tales of adventure, these were dangerous men shaped by war, empire and survival. Men who abandoned the laws of kings and nations to forge their own brutal kingdoms upon the ocean.

We follow the lives and legends of some of history's most infamous pirates:

    • Blackbeard — the smoke-shrouded Devil of the Atlantic
    • Calico Jack and the legendary women who sailed beside him: Anne Bonny and Mary Read
    • Bartholomew Roberts — the Gentleman Pirate who captured hundreds of ships
    • And Edward Low — a man whose cruelty became infamous even among pirates themselves

Together, their stories reveal a world of black flags, naval warfare, mutiny, greed and terror — where freedom and brutality walked hand in hand.

But beyond the history lies something deeper.

Because pirates endure not simply because they existed…

    But because they became myth.

    Symbols of rebellion.
    Of lawlessness.
Of humanity untethered from civilisation itself.

From storm-dark seas to the gallows awaiting them on shore, this is the story of the men and women who became the Devils of the Sea.

Mythic Albion — where the old world is never as far away as it seems.

  • 15. Fae - Between Worlds
    May 8 2026

There are places in Britain where the world feels… different.

    Where the air is still.
Where the path seems to shift beneath your feet.
Where something unseen lingers just beyond the edge of sight.

In this episode of Mythic Albion, we step into the hidden realm of the Fae — a world once deeply feared, respected, and believed to exist alongside our own.

From the courts of the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court…
to the wandering trickery of pixies and fair folk…
to the quiet presence of brownies within the home…

We explore the origins, nature, and enduring mystery of these ancient beings.

But not all of the Fae are playful.

    Some are watchers.
    Some are warnings.
And some… are something far darker.

We descend into the folklore of:

    • The headless rider — the Dullahan
    • The horrific Nuckelavee, bringer of plague and famine
    • The restless dead of the Sluagh
    • And the blood-soaked terror of Redcaps and goblins lurking in ruined places

    These are not simply stories.

They are echoes of a time when the world was not fully understood…

And the line between reality and myth was far thinner.

From ancient pagan origins, to Christian reinterpretation, to modern folklore — this episode explores not just what the Fae are…

    But what they represent.

Because perhaps the Fae did not disappear.

Perhaps we simply stopped seeing them.

Mythic Albion — where the old world is never as far away as it seems.
