It's been a few months since I did a live set in Portland, but a few weeks ago, I stepped out of the studio and behind the decks for Bounce Thursdays at Que Dicee. Shoutout to Logic and the crew! I decided to play a freestyle set based on some of the music from the #new52mixshow and some of my older sets. It's always nice to read the crowd and keep your USB stacked with various types of music. This is where my 20 years of experience working in gentlemen's clubs pays off with my open-format style. As Season One comes to a close on 206 Sessions, I leave you with a special Open Decks episode at Mira in Bellevue. I've been to a few shows there with my homies Fame Sounds and DJ Amp in the lineup, and it's a great venue. Back in February of 2025, they had an open decks night and I opted to go up first. I made sure to record my set. One of the most important things about an open decks session is giving tracks a try to see how they work in a live setting or just getting a feel for the room. In Season Two of The 206 Sessions, we will get into the things that have shaped the sound of the wonderful Seattle community and nightlife. Mixtape Monday is my longest running mixshow in the #new52mixshow universe. Much like Sunday Funday, it started as a mixtape mini-series in 2016, and I restarted the series in 2017 and continued from there. Over the years there have been a few starts and stops with the pandemic and my work schedule, but now I can confidently say Mixtape Monday will be coming at you every Monday on Podomatic and Apple Podcasts (and coming back to Mixcloud late this summer). Sunday Vibes was once called "Sunday Funday," a mixtape mini-series I started in 2016 after my first mixtape ever, called Summer Sampler. In 2017, I did 12 episodes, and the series reflected my Sunday nights during my residency at Dancers Showclub and Club Rio Indy. Sunday for most people is the beginning of the week and the end of the weekend, so during my rebrand under the #new52mixshow in 2018, I changed the name to Sunday Vibes. This mix is a little different from the hype of the weekend — it's more where I get to focus on R&B and other genres that center around it. This week makes the 100th episode (alongside The 765 Podcast) with an hour-long episode of eclectic feels and some classics you may recognize. It's one of the two series named after a day of the week, so every Sunday you will see a new episode of Sunday Vibes on Podomatic and Apple Podcasts (and Mixcloud this summer), right after Alki Sessions on Dizz Global Radio. I have to give a shoutout to my mentor and longtime friend DJ Carlos Mayberry, aka Mixmaster88. He introduced me to online radio in 2017, and from 2017 to 2020 I was on 4 different mixshows on Flash 107.6 FM Columbus. During this time, I was rebranding my DJ career, which is where the #new52mixshow concept was born. Much like DC Comics rebranded their major characters and founding members of the Justice League, I did the same thing with my mixshows. The 765 Podcast was a spin-off of Mixmaster88's 317 Mixshow, which aired on Saturdays on Flash 107.6 FM. With Sunday Vibes and Mixtape Monday already in rotation, I wanted a mixshow that showcased my weekend sets at my residency at Dancers Showclub. This weekend's 100th episode is very special to me, reminding me of what it took to get here. I have 21 tracks and 64 minutes of music that I would still play if I were in the industry. Make no mistake about my hometown of Indianapolis — there are a lot of happening strip clubs such as Brad's Brass Flamingo and PT's Showclub, but the vibe at Dancers Showclub during my tenure was unique. We call Technoverse "Technoverse" for a reason. When I think of techno, I think of peak, driving, hypnotic beats, and sometimes it's more than that. Techno is a "universe" in itself, and there are many ways to look at that. This is probably the most eclectic episode of Technoverse yet, but this week we have music from Amryta member Zteca, who will be direct support for Lilly Palmer this weekend at 45 East (who also makes an appearance on this mixshow), and Rebūke, who will be performing at Realm PDX.
