• 183. Advice From Dad
    Jun 29 2026

In this episode Amy compiles the words of advice that she and her sisters recall from growing up with Tim. It is great to learn that all those lectures with those pearls of wisdom were not wasted on deaf ears.

Listen as Amy and Tim breakdown 11 phrases and bits of wisdom passed on through the years. Some these come from earlier episodes, such as "E6 Some Say Tomato, Tim Says Drive With A Purpose" and "E8 The Difference Between a Monologue and a Dialogue."

In a bit of a surprise, D1 was able to rattle most of these in short order — who know she was actually listening?

  • 181. Jet-Lagged Amy Returns!
    Jun 15 2026

Amy returns after a few weeks hiatus just in time to join Tim and the $h!t$how on vacation in beautiful Central Minnesota. After flying back from Europe and a bit jet lagged, Amy relates some of the struggles of her latest trip.

The conversation breaks down into Paris versus London, wine versus beer and pubs versus street cafes. Can you guess which each of us fall?

The topic of torture comes up from Amy's visit to the Tower of London and what kind of mind comes up with this stuff!?

During the packing preparation for vacation, Tim comes across some of this writings in a creative writing class in high school. Based on what was shared, how disturbed were his high school years?

Of course, after we finished recording, Tim remembered the name of the pub he has visited a couple of times. Waxy O' Connor's in Soho, London. A great pub!

  • 180. Revisiting Camping and Creating New Traditions with D2!
    Jun 1 2026

D2 guest hosts this episode with Tim as, per usual, Amy's schedule was far too busy for this week's recording.

And guess what! Lindsey actually listened to an episode and may have added another listener to the mix! She decided to kill time while getting another tattoo (Something Amy accuses her of copying!) to listen to the most popular episode. (10. Tim Found A What Hidden in the Couch! )

We reminisced about traditions and the memories Lindsey had when we went camping and the pitfalls that might arise when trying to recreate memories from one generation to the next. (One of Amy's recurring phrases comes to mind: "Comparison is the Thief of Joy.")

The conversation included how traditions evolve as they move from one generation to the other and how this is a natural step as we grow.

The discuss includes what basic skin care should include and how it doesn't have to be complicated, that consistency is key to taking care of your skin and how often should someone see their dermatologist.

Michael nails it stating that "Self care is health care" and Angela affirms the adage that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!"

Located in Ohio, the question arises, is Ohio a part of the Midwest? Of course there is one question that we asked that may have settled it directly!

  • 178. Can We Just Be Civil?
    May 18 2026

After the past couple of episodes referring to the book, "Return to Civility," A Speed of Laughter Project, Tim actually finds his book and Amy and him take turns discussing some of the content.

Does Amy share some of her entries into her list of "Unhinged Things My Friends Say?" GD3 told Amy that she has a rich-person car because she has so many cupholders.

The duo also reminisces over some old commercials and find that our memory is not as good as we thought. "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a ...?" What is the product this line references?

We could really use your help to freshen up our joke and bits. If you have a worn out bit that doesn't work for yourself anymore, let us use and perhaps we can work it for a bit.

Thank you to our listeners! We really appreciate your support.

Please continue sharing, liking, subscribing, listening, criticizing, discussing, repeating our jokes, talking to your grandmother and commenting wherever you listen to this podcast.

  • 177. Oh No, Mom's in the Hospital!
    May 11 2026

Many of us have experienced this. You have your week all planned out and it's packed with yardwork, walking the dogs, watching youth soccer games, going out to dinner and see friends and all of a sudden everything changes. How amazing it is that you don't have the time to get everything done that you want, and how suddenly all of that gets deprioritized and put on the back burner.

We experienced this exactly. Listen as Amy and Tim discuss the recent events that briefly turned things upside down for a couple of day, but might just have a lasting effect.

In this episode things get a little real, but fear not, all is well.

Have you ever mixed two beers together to get an even better option?

Is a Black and Tan really a mix if they display separate layers?

Have you ever had an Angry Canadian?

Thank you to everyone who continues help grow the podcast! Please continue to Like, Share, Subscribe, Follow, Comment on whatever platform you are listening to us!!!

    May 4 2026

Listen is to the latest episode of That's Not What Mom Said to find out if Amy is leaving the podcast for another side hustle.

The duo returns to one of Tim's favorite topics of Time Management, or the folly that it is. And yet again brings up "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

We all have the same amount of time to spend each day, how we approach filling the hours should align with what is important in your life and fulfill your goals.

As Amy tells us "Grace costs us nothing. "

What do you do to "Sharpen the Saw?"
