  • #024 - Michael Hockton
    Jun 10 2026

In this episode of The Mindcast Show, we sit down with Michael Hockton, owner and head coach of Phoenix Boxing Gym, located one block off Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach. At the start of our conversation, Michael takes us back to where it all began, growing up in the UK in a family where boxing wasn't a choice, it was a birthright, with his father and all nine of his uncles lacing up gloves before him. He shares what it was like arriving in America in 1988 with no green card, no connections, and nothing but the determination not to go home empty-handed, and how the fear of failure drove him further than the desire for success ever could. He gives us an inside look at how he built Phoenix Boxing Gym from the ground up, including the handwritten letter he sent to a stranger that eventually led to him buying the building outright, and why the people inside that gym matter more than anything on the walls. We explore what makes the Phoenix Boxing Gym different from every other gym in South Florida, how Michael has built a community where a guy who just got off the bus trains next to someone who owns a jet, and why crime rates in the area went down after he opened his gym. Michael also speaks on what boxing really gives young people, not just fitness, but accountability, respect, and a reason to show up, and reflects on his partnership with Space of Mind that has brought that experience into a school curriculum. The conversation also gets into the current state of boxing, the Mike Tyson era versus today, why Michael believes Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest fighter ever, and why the sport has become too saturated for its own good. Whether you're into boxing, community building, or what it takes to dedicate your life to something bigger than yourself, this episode is an honest and compelling look at what it means to give more than you take.

  • #023 - Scott Hirsch
    Jun 3 2026

In this episode of The Mindcast Show, we sit down with Scott Hirsch, a Florida-based internet entrepreneur, professional boxing manager, and one of the earliest pioneers of online marketing in America. At the start of our conversation, Scott takes us back to his roots, from building one of the first virtual storefronts in the original AOL Mall with Lens Express in the early 1990s, to navigating the dot-com boom and selling his data and email marketing company in the aftermath of 9/11. He shares the business philosophy that kept him profitable while others burned through VC money and collapsed in the dot-com crash, and what it really felt like to sell a company he had built from nothing. We then dive deep into his world in professional boxing, where Scott managed five-time world champion Cory Spinks and heavyweight contender Shannon Briggs, earning WBO Boxing Manager of the Year in 2006. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what it actually takes to manage a fighter, the negotiations, the grind of seven fights in eighteen months, and what it means to believe in someone when the biggest networks in boxing have turned their backs on them. The conversation spans the evolution of the sport itself, from the traditional promoter model Scott operated in, to the Saudi money reshaping boxing today, Jake Paul's rise as both a fighter and a promoter, the Zufa boxing venture, and why the fight business has always rewarded those willing to take calculated risks. Scott also reflects on fatherhood, sharing candid stories about watching his son Zach build his career in sports media from the ground up, including early days training in Logan Paul's backyard, a brush with the FBI in Las Vegas, and the parenting philosophy of stepping back and letting your kid find his own path. Whether you're into boxing, entrepreneurship, sports media, or the mindset it takes to spot an opportunity before anyone else does, this conversation is packed with real experience and perspective from someone who has lived it across multiple industries.

  • #022 - David Serle
    May 7 2026

This episode of The Mindcast Show, we sit down with David Serle, Broker Owner of RE/MAX Services in Boca Raton, President of Broward, Palm Beaches and St. Lucie Realtors, board member of the National Association of Realtors, multiple-time Broker of the Year, and one of the most well-connected names in South Florida real estate with over 20 years in the industry.

David takes us through what it was like growing up in South Florida surrounded by real estate, born to a real estate broker and a real estate attorney, and how that foundation shaped everything that followed.

He opens up about his own podcasting journey, launching Breakfast with the Broker, what it taught him about interviewing people and telling stories, and why he believes every professional in any field should be building a platform.

We get into the real conversations most people avoid: mental health in high-pressure industries, what it actually means to be a good mentor, and why giving back has become a cornerstone of how David runs his business and his life.

From there, we dive into the big questions: what does success really mean, is college still worth it in today's world, and what the NAR settlement actually means for buyers, sellers, and agents across the country. David also breaks down the state of the Florida housing market and where he sees it heading.

Throughout the episode, David reflects on what separates the people who build something lasting from the ones who don't, and why relationships will always outperform transactions in business and in life.

Whether you're in real estate, entrepreneurship, or just trying to figure out your next move, this conversation is a masterclass in building with purpose.
