In the winter of 1987, a boy named Eli Whitmore vanished from the tracks at Pender County Line. He was twelve years old, small for his age, and known for walking the rails after dark. For three nights his mother stood at the crossing calling his name. On the third night she heard him answer from the culvert — not calling for help, not weeping, just repeating her words back at her in a voice that was almost his. The search party found her at dawn, kneeling at the mouth of the culvert, her fingernails broken from scraping at the frozen gravel, whispering something she would never repeat aloud. The county sealed the case and paved over the crossing the following spring. But the trains still slow down there, for no reason the engineers can explain. I went there last November, on the anniversary of his disappearance. I stood where the tracks bend into the treeline and I listened. The gravel shifted once, behind me. This is what I saw when I turned around. #PenderCountyLine #EliWhitmore #TheTracksAtPenderCountyLine #LostBoy #Disappearance #Culvert #Winter1987 #TrainCrossing #Echo #SmallTownHorror #LunaStory #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #Anthology #Paranormal #MissingPerson #RoadsideHorror #DeepSouthHorror Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
