Dort zwischen der Gischt entdeckte ich ein bleiches weibliches Gesicht. Die Sirene hatte leuchtende Augen, so grün wie Algen. Ihr Haar war rot wie Blut. Es floss in sanften Wellen über ihren Körper, der nackt war, soweit ich es erkennen konnte. Sie war eine Schönheit und es fiel mir leicht, zu verstehen, warum Männer ihr und ihrem Gesang verfielen. Doch wenn man genau hinsah, konnte man erkennen, dass sie spitze Zähne in ihrem Mund trug. Zähne, die zum Töten gemacht waren. An ihrem Hals hatte sie Kiemen wie ein Fisch. Sicher war ihr Körper kalt wie der Tod.
