I recorded this the day after we lost one of our beloved pets. Rainbow Bridge is the theme of several works of poetry written in the 1980s and 1990s that speak of an other-worldly place where pets go upon death, eventually to be reunited with their owners. It brings a lump to my throat, and often a tear to my eye but also comfort as I recall good times with Pongo.

The most famous piece of Old English literature, Beowulf was written by an unknown poet at least 1000 years ago and tells how the eponymous hero who is a great warrior defeats the monster Grendel and his mother. An interesting, original and first hand collection of recipes! Although the writer has recorded them while in India, mostly Bengal, the recipes are not confined to this country alone. What's interesting is the writer's record of weights, measures and the seasonal local produce based on which meals were planned (this is still a major factor in the lives of many who revel in this exercise in most parts of the country). The original "Yoga Secrets of Patanjali" are in themselves exceedingly brief, less than 10 pages in the original ancient texts. Yet, as they are based upon the great, timeless Bhagavad Gita, they contain the essence of all practical wisdom, set forth in admirable order and great detail. This timeless theme brings forth a palpable spiritual regeneration, the rebirth of the spiritual from the psychical: the same sacred theme which the realized yogis of India so wisely and eloquently set forth over 5,000 years ago.
