Civil War Alternate History

The Civil War was the deadliest conflict in American history, and had the two sides realized it would last four years and inflict over a million casualties, it might not have been fought. Since it was, however, historians and history buffs alike have been studying and analyzing the biggest battles ever since. Americans have long been fascinated by the Civil War, marveling at the size of the battles, the leadership of the generals, and the courage of the soldiers.

The American Civil War: Following the election of anti-slavery President-elect Abraham Lincoln, the Southern States of South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas have all officially left the United States of America. Lincoln follows up with the call for a 75,000-soldier army to be levied to invade the South and suppress the breakaway states. The move is quickly followed by Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee, which have not yet seceded, to join the Confederacy rather than supply troops to fight their Southern neighbors.

If the North Had Won the Civil War is two alternate history novels in one. The modern story follows Stonewall Jackson "Jack" Sawyer, a history professor in the modern-day Confederate States of America, and his alternate history "If the North Had Won the Civil War" in a nation where publication of his book is a criminal offense. The story gives the listener a look at a nightmarish modern-day Confederacy where any person with a drop of black blood in his veins is denied basic human rights and confined to a "Preserve".

The War Between the States is synonymous with romance, tragedy, bravery, and lost causes. The terrible war nearly tore the nation apart. The United States survived, though at a terrible cost.
