John Michael Layne is a post-apocalyptic fiction author rooted in the landscapes and quiet tensions of Appalachia. Raised in Green Bank, West Virginia — home to the 300-foot radio telescope and the National Radio Quiet Zone — he grew up in a place where isolation shapes perspective. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps before returning to the mountains that formed him. Layne earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and is currently pursuing his Healthcare MBA at WVU. He works in corporate healthcare finance, where his understanding of complex systems and institutional fragility often informs his fiction. His debut novel, Seasons of Ash, launches The Green Bank Chronicles, exploring survival, faith, family, and the cost of remaining human when the world shifts beneath our feet.
