Laura Meer Barkley is the author of This Childhood of Mine: A Memoir of My Last Summer with My Mentally Ill Mother and Alcoholic Father. She’s also a teacher and has been teaching all her adult life. At the age of twenty-two, she founded her own dance school in her hometown, Sochi, Russia, and after traveling the world with her students for competitions, she fell in love with the English language, became an English teacher, and immigrated to the United States. She later earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Walden University. Now Laura Meer Barkley resides in Maryland and works as an elementary school teacher. She enjoys meeting people and socializing. In her free time, she likes to walk through botanical gardens while listening to audiobooks. At home, she likes cooking, drinking black tea with lemon, and eating chocolate. She’s blessed with wonderful daughter Amina, husband Timothy, and two feisty chihuahuas Vincent and Dominic.
