A former lawyer, now an international selling multi-genre author.
As an independent author, I write the stories I want to write. One of my books is classed as a novella, or, in non-publishing speak, a short story. I could have padded to make it longer to satisfy a publisher target (not naming names, but we all know who does this) but since I’m independent I write the stories the length I want to, and to hell with the targets (wow!, what a rebel, take that, publishing dogma!). Since I am independent, I may not always fit with the perceived status quo in publishing but that is kind of the point. If you want tradition then I hear that Jane Austin writes a decent yarn or pick any of the top ten bestsellers since they are written and published to a (winning) formula. In my view it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy as readers buy from the top ten, publishers like to sell books so publish similar titles and around the circus goes. If you want something a little different then sign up to Unlimited and try an indie author risk free. Don't forget that your current favourite author was once unknown to you.
You may note I write in several genres. If you like one of my books, it’s likely you will enjoy another, even if it’s in a genre you would not normally read. I don’t take anything too seriously because one day the Universe will finally reach absolute zero and nothing will exist but Council Tax and a soup of slowly cooling photons. It’s highly likely it will go on ceasing to exist for eternity and in the words of the artist who turned himself into a symbol - that's a mighty long time. Based on that, I tend to take a fairly laid-back attitude to life.
So, if one of my books has helped you through a few hours on a boring train journey or made you smile whilst sitting around a pool on holiday then that is the payback for me.

THE GREAT BRITISH BANK HEIST
If you are a fan of fun crime caper fiction where no one actually gets hurt, guns are only for show and the language is pre-watershed then The Great British Bank Heist is for you. There are plenty of gritty crime novels out there but few (if any) which approach a heist with a comic slant. Think The Italian Job or a Guy Ritchie crime movie without the bad language and you won't be too far wrong. There are British colloquialisms and plenty of twists and turns along the way, all seen through the eyes of a reluctant robber who doesn't want to be there.
VENUS YELLOW
Book one of the Colt and Frank science fiction novellas.
Colt is a maverick American astronaut. Frank is a British ultra-intelligent computer. Put the two together and you get the start of a great friendship. Follow the pair as they rocket their way from mission to mission, narrowly avoiding death and disaster. With a touch of hard science fiction thrown-in, the Colt and Frank adventures are an easy going satire of space fun.
TITAN BLUE
With a passion for science fiction, cosmology and space travel, it has been said that my debut stand-alone science fiction novel Titan Blue brings a refreshing change to the genre. I grew up with a love of space and science fiction. My writing reflects this so you will find historical references ranging from early space flight to the Apollo missions through to modern popular culture with the odd philosophical discussion thrown in. All the names you come across will have a significance if you know your history. I try to be as accurate with my science as possible. So if it bothers you that Han Solo made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs and almost all Hollywood movies with external views of a space ship have rockets blasting on full making a huge noise in a vacuum then you will be in good company.
I have always enjoyed novels with a sense of humour and Titan Blue doesn't take itself too seriously. If you are a fan of The Martian and Hitch Hikers Guide you will probably find me somewhere in-between. Machines break, people argue, mistakes happen. Things are fixed with hammers and tape so think more Firefly than Star Trek.
After searching for the type of novel I love, I was struggling to find entertaining fiction which wasn't the same old space opera, zombies or apocalyptic end of days.
"Nobody was writing the sort of science fiction books I wanted to read. So I wrote my own."
Latest international review from A. L. MacDonald (Canada) :"This book is fantastic - it's tech talk makes you feel smart just like The Martian, the twists are huge and augmenting with every chapter, like The Apollo Murders. This is a great, gripping read!"
I hope you enjoy all of my novels. Please take the time to leave a written review on Amazon as it really helps other potential purchasers and enables me to create more great fiction in the future.
Hold onto your hats and enjoy the journey whilst it lasts.
