P. Gordon Judge spent forty years studying the Sun. As a solar astrophysicist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, he worked at the forefront of one of the most enduring unsolved mysteries in science: what heats the corona of the Sun to temperatures that defy straightforward explanation. In 2003, he was diagnosed with myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. He was forty-three. He fought, recovered, and came out the other side with two things: a renewed determination to challenge the assumptions of his field, and a need to write. The result was four volumes of fiction, a trilogy for young readers and a standalone novel for adults, written from the conviction that the most complex ideas in the universe belong to everyone. He does not consider himself a writer. He has written seven books. He lives in Longmont, Colorado, with his wife Terri and their dog. He is at work on his next novel.
