Tanyo Ravicz grew up in Los Angeles and attended Harvard University. After living on the East Coast and in Europe, he settled for many years in Alaska, a place which continues to inspire his writing. Over the years Tanyo Ravicz has found work as a wildland firefighter, property manager, cannery hand, laborer, schoolteacher and writer. His essays and stories have appeared in a range of online and print journals. RAIN ON THE ROOF, WIND IN THE SPRUCE, his forthcoming novel, the story of Brenda and Jason Everblue, two countercultural souls who move off the grid with their young children, is a companion to his memoir, LAND OF BEAR AND EAGLE: A HOME IN THE KODIAK WILDERNESS (Hancock House), an Anchorage Daily News top pick for 2023. His first novel, A MAN OF HIS VILLAGE, awarded ForeWord Magazine’s Gold Award in Literary Fiction and the Eric Hoffer Prize in General Fiction, was followed by a selection of his published stories, ALASKANS. Ravicz is also the author of the short novel RING OF FIRE and the comic epic poem “Hail to the Chief,” a digital single issued by Denali Press.
