When the body of a young man is found stuffed into the tomb of a medieval knight, Parish Constable Daniel Haze is tasked with investigating his first solo murder case. Suspicion instantly falls on the only stranger to arrive in the village of Birch Hill just before the crime took place, but the American captain proves to be an unexpected asset. A former soldier and a skilled surgeon, Jason Redmond is not only willing to assist Haze with the investigation but will risk his own safety to apprehend the killer.

With no suspects, no motive, and few leads to follow, Redmond and Haze must solve the crime before one of them becomes the murderer’s next victim.

Murder in the Crypt is the exciting first installment of this Victorian murder mystery series set in a quaint British village.

I really enjoyed the cast of characters in this murder whodunnit. I look forward to hearing the rest. I wasn’t greatly keen on the narration to start with but I sped it up a bit and it was ok.

Interesting start to a new series

Though I would have preferred a man reading this, 90% of characters men, this was well read. The story was gripping enough to keep you wanting to know more. I like the idea of an American doctor and a village constable teaming up they work well together considering this is 1860's and things were very different ton now. The ending was unexpected but appropriate. I am now going to find book 2

An excellent story

The story is great and it's read well BUT the accents are bloody awful 😖

Excellent but

It may be me but I couldn't finish the book, which I may have enjoyed with a different narrator. Her voice, with some of the characters really grated on me, very flat and monotone. Sorry 🙁

Poor narration

Good story could have done with a better narrator
Looking forward d to the next
