Dr. Judith Joseph brings an unparalleled wealth of expertise, with a distinguished educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, Cum laude from Duke University. She earned her Medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and holds a Business degree from Columbia Business School. Dr. Judith completed her Adult psychiatry residency at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Furthermore, she pursued a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Child Study Center at NYU Langone Medical Hospital and Bellevue Hospital.


As the Chairwoman of the Women in Medicine Board at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Judith remains committed to advancing mental health treatments that are inclusive of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.


With a thriving social media community and numerous appearances on esteemed platforms, including panels with Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Judith Joseph is dedicated to making mental health accessible to all. Recently, she received a prestigious Proclamation award from the US Congress in recognition of her outstanding contributions to mental health work.

  • Faith, Fatherhood and Men’s Mental Health With Dr. Sidney Hankerson, MD

    Dr. Hankerson is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Community Engagement in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is also the Mental Health Equity Research Director at Mount Sinai Institute for Health Equity Research (IHER). His research focuses on reducing racial/ethnic disparities in mental health treatment. He is a nationally recognized expert at engaging faithand community-based organizations to increase access to culturally relevant mental health care. Dr. Hankerson has presented at the White House (President Obama’s White House Dialogue on Men’s Health and the ‘Making Healthcare Better’ Series), United Nations, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Gracie Mansion (NYC Mayor’s Office), and numerous national academic conferences. He currently serves on the National Football League’s (NFL) Mental Wellness Committee. The National Academy of Medicine selected Dr. Hankerson as one of 10 physicians in the U.S. for its Emerging Leaders in Health and Medicine Program in 2021. He was an inaugural member of the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Council of Faith and Community Partnerships and served on the APA Council of Minority Mental Health and Health Disparities. He has been featured on several TV series: the PBS Documentary Mysteries of Mental Illness; a Pix11 News Special focused on mental health in the Black community, and a CBS segment about Mount Sinai’s partnerships with faith-based organizations. Dr. Hankerson completed a dual MD/MBA program from Emory University,where he was Medical School Class President. He completed his psychiatry residency at Emory and was appointed Chief Resident of Psychiatry at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Hankerson then completed an NIMH-funded research fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. He was on faculty at Columbia for 12 years before transitioning to his currentleadership roles at Mount Sinai.Dr. Hankerson joins us on The Vault to discuss his research on how faith and mental health can work in synergy to help communities to thrive.   • How to Thrive whilst living with Tics, Tourette Syndrome and ADHD ft Jumaane D. Williams

    Jumaane D. Williams is the Public Advocate of the City of New York. Previously, he served on the NYC Council representing the 45th District. Jumaane is a first-generation Brooklynite of Grenadian heritage. He graduated from the public school system, overcoming the difficulties of Tourettes and ADHD to earn a Masters Degree from Brooklyn College.

    He began his career as a community organizer at the Greater Flatbush Beacon School and later served as the Executive Director of NYS Tenants Neighbors. There, he fought for truly affordable, income-targeted housing across New York City and State.

    In the NYC Council, Jumaane championed landmark legislation that fundamentally transformed policing in NYC. Jumaane sponsored the Community Safety Act, reforming the Citys Police Department to address the abuse of Stop, Question & Frisk in communities of color and creating the NYPDs Office of Inspector General to investigate unlawful & unethical behavior. As former Co-Chair of the Council’s Task Force to Combat Gun Violence, he helped create New York’s Crisis Management System, which
    funds Cure Violence Groups that work to reduce shootings through a multi-pronged approach. The program fundamentally transformed the city’s approach to gun violence prevention, and as Public Advocate he continues to work for its expansion and improvement today.

    Jumaane has led the fight for better policing and safer streets, affordable housing, and transparency and accountability in City government. As Public Advocate, Jumaane continues to be an activist-elected official who brings the voices of everyday New Yorkers to City government and makes New York a truly progressive beacon for all.
